About Us

The Republican Party of Highlands County is a political organization that promotes the ideals of the Republican Party.  Lower taxes, personal independence, family values, strong national defense, and smaller government are some of these ideals.  To support our objectives we meet monthly to discuss important issues and plan for future events. Yearly we hold a Lincoln Day Dinner to raise funds to support our goals.

We welcome the public to join us on the second Thursday of the month at the Sebring Elks Lodge (2618 Kenilworth Blvd, Sebring, FL 33870)  to learn more about us.  Order dinner from 5PM – 6:30 PM (optional).  Meeting starts at 6:30PM.

The mission of the Republican Party of Highlands County is to serve as the umbrella organization for all GOP activities leading to the election of qualified, loyal Republicans through education, communication, outreach, and motivation of the electorate.

Our vision is to elect a majority of public officials in Highlands County who share the core Republican beliefs of limited government, individual responsibility, entrepreneurial capitalism and equitable tax policies, coupled with common sense environmental policy and compassionate conservatism.

Increase the Republican voter base by developing registration and outreach programs.

Provide opportunities to educate the electorate through political events and forums.

Develop a large contact database of registered Republicans in Highlands County for the purposes of getting out the vote and informing the voter of important issues.

Find qualified Republicans to become candidates for office.

Promote the election of Republicans to office by contributing the necessary support needed to run a successful campaign.

What is the HCREC?

The Highlands County Republican Executive Committee is the governing body of the Republican Party of Highlands County.

Members (precinct committeemen and committeewomen) of the Republican Executive Committee represent the registered Republicans who live in their precincts.  Highlands County has 25 voting precincts.  The number of precinct committeemen and committeewomen in each precinct depends on the number of registered voters in the precinct.

The Highlands County Republican committeemen and committeewomen elect the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Party.  They also approve the Party’s constitution, rules, policies and procedures, and budget.

The HCREC plays an important role in the grassroots effort of the Party and the overall team effort to get Republicans elected in Highlands County.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Highlands County Republican Executive Committee, join us at our next meeting to learn about us, or call the headquarters at (863) 402-5456. We meet on the second Thursday of the month at the Sebring Elks Club. Order dinner from 5:00 PM -6:30 PM (optional). Meeting starts at 6:30 PM.

GOP Principles:

I Believe… The proper function of government is to do for the people those things that have to be done but cannot be done, or cannot be done as well, by individuals, and that the most effective government is government closest to the people.

I Believe… Good government is based upon the individual and that each person’s ability, dignity, freedom, and responsibility must be honored and recognized.

I Believe… The free enterprise and the encouragement of individual initiative and incentive have given this nation an economic system second to none.

I Believe… Sound money management should be our goal.

I Believe… In equal right, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, age, sex or national origin.

I Believe… We must retain those principles of the past worth retaining, yet always be receptive to new ideas with an outlook broad enough to accommodate thoughtful change and varying points of view.

I Believe… That Americans value and should preserve their feeling of national strength and pride, and at the same time share with people everywhere a desire for peace and freedom and the extension of human rights throughout the world.

I Believe… The Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
